The squeaky wheel gets the grease. I called City of Hope again and told the receptionist that I posted a bad review because of them failing to call back to schedule my XGEVA, (and also failing to get called on my Prolia 2 months ago), I got a call back to schedule Prolia.

Prolia??? that was 2 months ago and I never got it. I explained that I was recently upgraded to XGEVA.

She called back again a few minutes later and apologized for the confusion and delay, and scheduled me for XGEVA. (I am still glad to be leaving City of Hope and going back to Kaiser on January 1, 2016.)

When I was first diagnosed in 2001, I was looking for advice. I had KAISER HMO and wanted other opinions from outside doctors to get 2nd opinions. When I requested an appointment with City of Hope, I was asked to pay a $5000 deposit just to walk in the door because. I knew something was wrong. I also thought it was greedy, but I moved on and got 2nd opinions elsewhere.

Unfortunately, I could not avoid City of Hopes incompetence later on when I did a very short clinical trial of a new drug 3 years later. I did the trial was at USC Norris. Unfortunately, a requirement was that USC get my pathology slides, about 30 of them, and send to City of Hope for analysis. (I quickly completed the trial, which did not help me at that time).

When I was done at USC, and I asked USC to send my slides back to Kaiser. USC said they did not have them, City of Hope Duarte had them. I called City of Hope Duarte but they could not find them either, and asked me to search for them at Kaiser. After 3 months of going back and forth, City of Hope found 4 of them and FedEx them back to me. What happened to the other 36 slides????? To this day they are lost. Thanks to City of Hope, I will NEVER be able to do another clinical trial, since most clinical trials require you to submit your slides.

That is not the end of the story. I tried to avoid City of Hope like the plague after that experience, but unfortunately, City of Hope bought out Wilshire Oncology in West Covina. I was on Medicare and being treated at Wilshire Oncology. Oh no, here we go with City of Hope problems again.

So what happened? The first thing that happened was City of Hope cleaned house at Wilshire Oncology and fired the social worker nurse at Wilshire Oncology. She was the most helpful and valuable person at Wilshire Oncology because she worked with patients to help find charitable foundations that would help pay copays for expensive drugs. Sad to see her go.

Present day, December 2015, still on Medicare, things fell through the cracks at City of Hope. I was prescribed a Prolia injection, but I never got a call to schedule the injection even after my phone calls to ask for the appointment.

I asked for the newest Sodium Fluoride Pet/CT scan because of hip pain, also justified because I had treated a bone lesion 3 years ago. Unfortunately, City of Hope bureaucracy made it impossible to get that scan in a timely manor, so I went to UCLA to get it. UCLA was first class and professional, and got it done.

After my doctor reviewed my UCLA scan, I was advised to change to XGEVA to treat a bone lesion, and I would receive a call in a week after City of Hope approves the XGEVA injection. (I have no complaints about my Doctor. He is great. He was Wilshire Oncology and excellent before City of Hope gobbled up his office). It has been 10 days and no phone call. I called and was informed that the infusion room would call me. Still no call.

I have concluded that if you want to die quickly of cancer, go to City of Hope. If you want to live a long time, go to UCLA or UCSF for your treatments and avoid City of Hope like the plague. I cant believe City of Hope is still in business. They do a good marketing job, but my experience with them, off and on since 2001, was HORRIBLE (wanted a $5000 retainer fee), incompetent (lost my slides), incomplete (no calls to schedule injections), and burdened with roadblocks (unable to get a timely Scan thru City of Hope).

January 1, 2016, thank God, I will be back at Kaiser where I can promptly get my XGEVA injection and other meds I will need. I would be happy to see other patients bring out the truth about City of Hope so cancer patients can avoid them.

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

City Of Hope Hospital Pros: Doctor who used to work at wilshire oncology.

City Of Hope Hospital Cons: Service at city of hope.

Location: Glendora, California

This people are very corrupted and they do not care because they know other government agencies have their back. We must MUST protest and expose them for what they really are.

please contact me and lets get united saul_preciado@***.com. Enough is enough, I tried to fight in court and they hired some lawyers who are just like them. Do not care about the reality but just the. money even if they have to defend criminals like them.

Because that's what they are when they lie, manipulate, hide, and engaged in INTENTIONAL KILLING.

If WE the people don't do nothing, they will continue and not care about this comments or other comments on these websites. We must EXPOSE THEM and PROTEST against them.

Actually, I was mad because City of Hope took over Wiltshire Oncology West Covina and fired my favorite nurse Shelly. Shelly helped me get foundation grants to pay for my med copays.

That is why I was mad when they fired her. My review was a little harsh.

I had to leave Kaiser again because I moved to Northern California, and am now under the care of UC DAVIS MEDICAL. I still have contact with my doctor from Wiltshire oncology and City of Hope kept him.

He is a good doctor.

Dr Presant. I am glad he is still there.
